Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a singleplayer action RPG. With the recent release of bigger name titles such as Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, Final Fantasy XII-2 and even upcoming games like Mass Effect 3 it is easy to look over a less popular one such as this. That would be a huge mistake.
Amalur is the best action RPG you never played. The Rereckoning edition adds some modern polish to a classic PS3 adventure. It's a huge RPG that's a little too easy even on higher difficulty, and overstays it's welcome just a bit. But if you want a beautiful world to get lost in you could do far worse than Kingdoms of Amalur.
The fact that RA Salvatore’s writing and Todd McFarlane’s aesthetics stand out from elevating Kingdoms of Amalur from being generic-looking and sounding, at least by a tad, makes the visuals stand out. For one, while this is one of my all-time favourite games (and we’re talking about perhaps a thousand games over 30 years), I didn’t like the crafting. I disliked having to craft chaos weapons. I hated the repetitive and constant chaos realm dungeons. They were all the same, and were lazily made. Very repetitive. Jbr4f.
